Checa gets the nod on Biaggi in Q2
Carlos Checa (Althea Racing Ducati) came out on top of a hard-fought Q2 session, grabbing the provisional pole from Max Biaggi (Aprilia Alitalia Racing Team), with just three-tenths of a second between them.

Michel Fabrizio (Alstare Suzuki) was a tenth behind, but inside the 1'36" bracket. Joan Lascorz (Kawasaki Racing Team) made a major leap upwards to take fourth ahead of Marco Melandri (Yamaha World Superbike Team), who battled head-to-head with Biaggi for a couple of laps.

Both Checa and Fabrizio had harmless crashes during the 45 minute run.

Leon Haslam (BMW Motorrad Motorsport) was sixth quickest, with fellow Brit Tom Sykes also well up on the official Kawasaki bike.

After his crash yesterday Troy Corser (BMW Motorrad) lined up for the session, the Australian finishing in 13th place with another crash to his name.
